2007 Lexus GX 470

2007 Lexus GX 470

Base MSRP $46,635
The 2007 GX 470 is as well-equipped as the Lexus nameplate suggests, yet it maintains a traditional SUV's utility. The GX rides on the same truck-based platform as Toyota's famous 4Runner, and is the only vehicle in its class to offer seating for eight. Despite its large size, it is still more maneuverable than many of its peers.

While the 2007 GX 470 uses a body-on-frame design for maximum off-road capability, the boys at Toyota wanted this Lexus to, well, ride and feel like a Lexus. Air suspension, good balance, and a judicious use of sound dampening materials make this SUV excellent for the long haul, without wearing out the driver.

Lexus' attention to detail extends to the safety front, with the GX featuring air bags all around. The front two passengers are protected with side, front and head curtain bags, while the second and third row seats are also given head curtain air bags. The GX also has a full suite of active safety equipment, such as hill descent control, hill start assist, anti-lock brakes, traction control, and stability control.

True to Lexus form, the GX 470 boasts a long list of standard features. The interior is adorned with maple wood trim, leather heated seats, power everything, thick carpet floor mats, dual-zone automatic climate control, a six-disc CD changer, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and HomeLink. Outside, rain-sensing windshield wipers and heated power mirrors continue the luxury theme.

The standard powerplant is a 4.7L 32-valve V8 with continuously variable valve timing that produces 270 horsepower. The engine is paired with a five-speed automatic transmission, and a locking front and rear differential and air suspension are also standard.

Notable optional items include a kinetic dynamic suspension system, a rear seat entertainment system, navigation, an incredible audio system, and a third row seat that can up the passenger capacity to eight people.
The Lexus GX 470 mid-level sport utility underwent no major changes for the 2007 model year. Versatility has been enhanced, as the optional third row seat is now a 50/50 split-folding bench.
Comfort and luxury without compromising utility; impressive powerplant; reliability and build quality.
